A Little [CREE SUMMER] for a Saturday Night

I'm back with my "M" song pick for the "ABCs of Good Music", and I have decided for this Saturday night to pick a song very close to my heart. I wish I could say it was about me, but alas... it is not. But I think that every woman out there can listen to it and feel its about her! So I hope you all will enjoy "Miss Moon" by Cree Summer.

DOPE: "Kajra Re" from "Bunty Aur Babli" (2005)

I'm back with another dope song and dance number from our friend in India. This one is very very cool because it features a husband and wife team, and a father and son team... So this clip is definitely about family!! With the lyrics courtesy of BollyWhat.comI hope you all will enjoy "Kajra Re".

aisii nazar se dekha us jaalim ne chauk par
The way that villain eyed me in the market-place,
hamne kaleja rakh diya chaakuu kii nok par
it felt like putting my heart at knife's point.

mere chain-vain sab ujaRaa zaalim nazar haTaa le...
My peace of mind has been destroyed; stop staring at me, scoundrel!
mere chain-vain sab ujaRaa zaalim nazar haTaa le...
My peace of mind has been destroyed; stop staring at me, scoundrel!
barbaad ho rahe hai.n jii
They're being destroyed;
barbaad ho rahe hai.n jii tere apne shaharvaale
your own townspeople are being destroyed by this!
mere chain-vain sab ujaRaa zaalim nazar haTaa le
My peace of mind has been destroyed; stop staring at me, scoundrel!
barbaad ho rahe hai.n jii tere apne shaharvaale
Your own townspeople are being destroyed by this.

merii a.ngaRaa'ii na TuuTe tuu aajaa...
Come to me while I'm ready and waiting for you.
kajaraa re
Your kohl-lined eyes;
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kaare kaare naina...
your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...
mere naina mere naina mere naina juRwaa naina
My eyes, my eyes, my twin eyes...
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kaare kaare naina
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes

surma'ii se likhe tere vaade aa.nkho.n kii zabaanii aate hai.n
The promises you wrote with kohl speak the language of the eyes.
mere rumaalo.n pe lab tere baa.ndhke nishaanii jaate hai.n
My handkerchief bears the traces of your lips.
terii baato.n me.n kimaam kii khushbuu hai
Your words hold the fragrance of an intoxicating drink.
tera aana bhii garmiyo.n kii luu hai
You arrive like the hot winds of summer.
terii baato.n me.n kimaam kii khushbuu hai
Your words hold the fragrance of an intoxicating drink.
tera aana bhii garmiyo.n kii luu hai
You arrive like the hot winds of summer.

aajaa TuuTe na TuuTe a.ngaRaa'ii
Come to me before the waiting begins to make me anxious.
merii a.ngaRaa'ii na TuuTe tuu aajaa
Come to me while I'm ready and waiting for you.
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kaare kaare naina...
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...
mere naina mere naina mere naino.n me chupke rahana
My eyes, my eyes, my twin eyes...
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kare kare naina
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...

aa.nkhe.n bhii kamaal karti hai.n
Your eyes work wonders.
"personal" se sawaal kartii hai.n
They ask the most personal questions.
palko.n ko uTHaatii bhii nahii.n
They don't even have to rise;
parde ka khayaal kartii hai.n
they speak through the curtain of your lashes.
mera gam to kisiise bhii chuptaa nahii.n
My sorrow can't be hidden from anyone.
dard hota hai jab dard chubhtaa nahii.n
True pain doesn't even sting.

aajaa TuuTe na TuuTe a.ngaRaa'ii
Come to me before the waiting begins to make me anxious.
merii a.ngaRaa'ii na TuuTe tuu aajaa
Come to me while I'm ready and waiting for you.
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kaare kaare naina...
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...
tere naina tere naina hame.n dha.nste (pierce) hai.n tere naina
Your eyes, your eyes, they destroy us, your eyes.
kajaraa re kajaraa re mere kare kare naina
My kohl-lined eyes, my black, black eyes.

tujhse milna puraanii dillii me.n
After I met you in Old Delhi,
chhoR aa'ii nishaanii dillii me.n
I left a memento behind there,
pal nimaana darii betallak
a tapestry woven of random moments
terii merii kahaanii dilli me.n
of our story in Delhi.
kalii kamalii vaalii ko yaad karke
Inspired by your dark, lotus-like eyes,
tere kaale kaale naino.n kii qasam khaate hai.n
we swear on your black, black eyes
tere kaale kaale naino.n ke banaaye hai.n ruuh
that our souls are filled with your dark, dark eyes.
tere kaale kaale naino.n ko du'aa'e.n de.n ruuh
Our souls offer blessings to your black, black eyes.
merii jaan udaas hai ho.nTHo.n pe pyaas hai
My heart despairs; my lips are parched.
aajaa re aajaa re aajaa re
Come to me, come to me, come!
terii baato.n me.n kimaam kii khushbuu hai
Your words hold the fragrance of an intoxicating drink.
tera aana bhii garmiyo.n kii luu hai
You arrive like the hot winds of summer.

merii a.ngaRaa'ii na TuuTe tuu aajaa...
Come to me while I'm ready and waiting for you.
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kare kare naina...
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...
tere naina tere naina tere naina juRwaa naina...
My eyes, my eyes, your twin eyes...
tere naina tere naina tere naino.n me chupke rahana...
Your eyes, your eyes, we must hide ourselves away forever in your eyes
kajaraa re kajaraa re tere kare kare naina...
Your kohl-lined eyes, your black, black eyes...
kare kare kare kare kare kare kare kare naina
Black, black....eyes.
kajaraa re kajaraa re mere kare kare naina
My kohl-lined eyes, my black, black eyes!

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays... T.U.K.'s Purple Peacock Heels

Those of you who have followed this blog for quite some time will confirm the the following things about me:

1) I don't do heels.
2) I am cuckoo for all things peacock print.

With all of that being said, can I say that this week's Wanna Wanna Wednesday item is seriously making me rethink my position on the first statement! LOL

How adorable are these pretty as a peacock pumps ($55.00, Torrid)? As much as I wanna wanna wanna, I am a bit hesitant to splurge because $55.00 is a lot of moola to invest in something that I probably won't wear. Despite the mid length heel, my feel hurt just looking at them.

So what say you all? Should I snag these shoes as aversion therapy for a serious heel phobia? Leave a comment with your support (and how YOU'D rock this pump!)...

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" When people believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."
~ Norman Vincent Peale

" You are very powerful, provided you know how powerful you are."
~ Yogi Bhajan

" Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
~ Oprah Winfrey

Sometimes it's the simple act of going to work that makes me feel like I will always struggle to maintain. I work in the NoHo section of Manhattan, which is a pretty affluent area surrounded by shops I couldn't afford to shop in (even if they sold items in my size) and while many of us in the area of rushing to get to our jobs, there are countless people hanging out shopping. Because they can.

And I admit to feeling a little... okay a lot of jealously for them. I wish my life was as easy breezy as theirs seems to be and I look at my surroundings and wonder what misstep did I take to end up where I am. Thoughts like that only lead to more negative thinking... and in the end, I generally end up feeling like the biggest loser on the planet. Why do I subject myself to this?

My life is exactly the way it should be right now. I have enough, I am enough. I have a job that keeps me supported and I feel I'm very good at what I do. Furthermore, I have many many more talents to offer the world and when the opportunity arises, I will take it wholeheartedly. I will remain where I am and walk past all the shopping socialites to my job and be proud that I have the means to care for myself.

Like a sign from the Universe, in the midst of feeling this horrible feeling of being stuck I was reunited with today's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon. When I was younger (way before I joined the workforce), it was one of my favorite songs and it always filled me with an incredible sense of optimism for the future. Listening to it again filled me with that same optimism, and I felt like questions I was asking the Universe had finally been answered. Keep going, keep trying, run your own race, and never give in.

If you are feeling disheartened or stuck in a current situation, I hope that "When Am I  Going To Make A Living" by Sade will serve as a reminder that your future is bright as long as you remember to shine in the present.

When am I gonna make a living?
It's gonna take a while before I give in.
See the people fussing and thieving.
While the sharks are wheeling and dealing.

Gotta look up and tell yourself,
there's no end to what you can do.
They'll waste your body and soul if you allow them to.
This is time to start believing in yourself.
Put the blame on no-one else.

When am I gonna make a living?
It's gonna take a while before I give in.
See the people fussing and stealing.
Too many lies, no-one is achieving.

Haven't I told you before,
"we're hungry for a life we can't afford."
There's no end to what you can do.
If you give yourself a chance to prove.

We're hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
We're hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.

There's no end to what you can do.
They'll waste your body and soul if you allow them to.
Start believing in yourself.
Put the blame on no-one else.

When am I gonna make a living?.
It's gonna take a while before I give in. Yes it is.
I'm sick and tired of scratching a living.
I am hungry but I'm not gonna give in.

We're hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we won't give in.
Hungry but we're gonna win.

Miss Moon Gets Healthy.... And TOTALLY Rewards Herself with Food!!

I know, I know... I've written in the past about how you shouldn't reward yourself with food, and I'm proud to say I've stuck by that resolution. But....

Rather than dedicate a whole paragraph to an excuse or any other justification I pulled out of my bum, I'm just going to post a picture of this:

That, ladies and gentlemen is a GREEN TEA LAVA CAKE. Say it with me, y'all: green...tea...lava...cake.

Everything about that makes me scream "Get in mah stomach!!", but even though I discovered this culinary proof that there is a Divine presence in the Universe that loves us weeks ago, I haven't magically materialized to Spot Dessert Bar here in NYC to partake. Oh no...

I've decided that I'm going to make a little deal with myself. If I go to the gym 10 times starting this week, I will treat myself to this confection next month.

Am I a huge hypocrite? Yes... is it backsliding? Absolutely....

But look at that picture!!! ROTFLMAO

DOPE: "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte" from "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" (2008)

"Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" is a film that I've blogged about in the past (I'm still on the hunt for my little yellow tiffin!) but I've never featured any of the songs in a DOPE post before. Which is odd because I consider it one of my favorite films... I figured today would be the perfect day to remedy this.

I am picking the song sequence that pays tribute to famous Hindi film actors Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, actresses Nargis, Nutan, Helen, Sharmila Tagore and Neetu Singh, and features cameos by Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and of course "Cousin" Kajol!

So I hope you all will enjoy "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte".... Lyrics with English translation courtesy of Hindi Bollywood Translation.

Pyaar Huaa Ikraar Huaa, Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan
Love was given and confessed, this is the place to live and die

In Baahon Kho, In Raahon Kho
These arms, these paths

Chod Ye Chaliyan, Jaye Kahan
Where would I go leaving all these behind?

Mana Dil Tho Hain Anaari, Yeh Awaara Hi Sahin
My heart may be innocent, May even be a crazy as well

Aare Bhol Radha Bhol Hoga Sangam Ke Naahinnn
Tell me Radha, will we be one or not?

Har Janam Mein, Rang Badalke
In every lifetime, the colors will change

Kaabhon Ke Paardon Pein Hum Khilte
We blossom behind the curtains of dreamland

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by
Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

Dil Ka Bhawar Kare, Kare Pukar Jab, Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hain
The heart calls out, It calls out when someone falls in love

Jiya Ohh Jiya Kuch Boldon, Aab Dard Sa Dil Mein Hotha Hain
Say something oh my darling, Now there's a pain in my heart

Thede De E E Ohhh
Thede De E E Ohhh

Ohh Tere Ghar Ke Samne Ghar Banaonga, Tootha Hi Sahin
I’ll build a house in front of yours, Even if it’s a shabby one

Pal Bhar Ke Liye Koi Hume Pyar Karle, Jhootha Hin Sahin
I wish someone would love me, Even if it’s a lie

Jhootha Hin Sahin, Hain Jhootha Hin Sahinnn
Even if it’s a lie, Yes even if it’s a lie

Har Janam Mein, Rang Badalke
In every lifetime, the colors will change

Kaabhon Ke Paardon Pein Hum Khilte
We blossom behind the curtains of dreamland

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by
Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

Yahoooooo Yahoooooooooo

Ohhhh Hasina, Zulfoon Wali Jaane Jahaaaan
Oh my beauty with the gorgeous tresses

Chahe Mujhko, Jaangli Kehde Saara Jahaaaaan
So what if the world calls me a barbarian

Ohhh Mehfil Mehfil Tu Phire, Yaho Yaho Dil Kare
You go from party to party, And my heart cries out yahoooo!

Ohhh Mehfil Mehfil Tu Phire, Yaho Yaho Dil Kare
You go from party to party, And my heart cries out yahoooo!

Badan Pein Sitare Lapete Hue
You beautiful body draped with stars

Har Janam Mein, Rang Badalke
In every lifetime, the colors will change

Kaabhon Ke Paardon Pein Hum Khilte
We blossom behind the curtains of dreamland

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by
Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

Bamoshaiiii…
Ohooo Hen Hen Hen…Ahhhhhhhh

Hain Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Kata Lage Na Kankar
Hail Lord Shiv Shankar, Neither thorns nor stones can hurt us

Chahe Kuch Karle Zamana
No matter what the world does

Mere Jeewan Saathi, Mere Sapno Ki Raani
My partner in life, queen of my dreams

Zindagi Safar Hain Suhana
This journey is a beautiful one

Hain Kuch Tho Log Kahenge, Na Suna Ki Jiye
People will always talk, Don’t listen to them

Hain Chain Aaye Mere Dil Ko Duwa Ki Jiye
All I want is peace in my heart, Pray that I get it

Har Janam Mein, Rang Badalke
In every lifetime, the colors will change

Kaabhon Ke Paardon Pein Hum Khilte
We blossom behind the curtains of dreamland

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by
Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

Pa Pa Para Pa Ra Paaa
Pa Pa Para Pa Ra Paaa
Pa Pa Para Pa Ra Paaa
Pa Pa Para Pa Ra Paaa
Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu…

Darde Dil Darde Jigar, Zamane Kho Dikhana Hain
Heartbreaks, agonies of the heart, I want to show the world
Darde Dil Darde Jigar, Zamane Kho Dikhana Hain
Heartbreaks, agonies of the heart, I want to show the world

Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin Hain, Tujko Yeh Baathana Hain
I’m no less than anyone, I want to tell you that

Yeh Wada Raha, Ohhh Meri Chaandni
That’s a promise, To you, my Chandni

Har Janam Mein, Rang Badalke
In every lifetime, the colors will change

Kaabhon Ke Paardon Pein Hum Khilte
We blossom behind the curtains of dreamland

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Ah Ah Ah Ah Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, as time goes by

Hennnnnnnnnnnn Ahhh Chalte Chalte
Yes indeed as time goes by

Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte
We are travelers on the path of love, We’ll meet again as time goes by

You know I had to pick the gif with Kajol! LOL

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" Being solitary is being alone well: being alone luxuriously immersed in doings of your own choice, aware of the fullness of your won presence rather than of the absence of others. Because solitude is an achievement."
~ Alice Koller

" The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself."
~ Michel de Monaigne

" It is only alone, truly alone what one burst apart, springs forth."
~ Maria Isabel Barreno

I am a woman who has no problems having only herself for company. In fact, I rather enjoy my own company... I'm awesome! When I'm asked, "Doesn't being alone so much make you feel sad or lonely?", I reply that being alone can definitely make one sad. Being solitary? Not so much! I've learned that I need moments of solitude from time to time.... It's a Scorpio thing, I think! LOL

I've become a much more social creature lately and I've been out and about with friends much more. And now that I've reentered the dating scene, I've gone out more in the past few months than I had in the previous year! Because I've been more social and active and a part of the world, it's become much for pertinent  for me to take time out for myself. To refuel, recharge, zone out, laugh, create, think, daydream... anything my heart desires.

For today's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon, I picked a song from the one and only Erykah Badu that I think should be the anthem for being solitary. If you've been craving some alone time with your thoughts, I sincerely hope that "Vibrate On" will motivate you to do it.. soon!

Hey...
Hey, Hey...

Oh Let me know, let me know, let me knw, there she go.

They knew I was gangsta, When I hit the door.
I was hurting them baby, it was pitiful.
Everything I was doing, was their favorite thing.
What's your number, what's your name -- like all night long.

They on--
But I'm long gone, at home with the vibrate on...my phone.
Because I rather be left alone...a-lone.

Got no money for Spirits, so I contemplate.
Gonna drink me some water, and get over it.
Plus I'm running a fever, 'cause I'm getting sick.
Of what's your number, what's your name, like all night long.

They on--
But I'm long gone, at home with the vibrate on...my phone.
'Cause I rather be left alone...all night long. They on--
But I'm long gone, at home with the vibrate on...my phone.
'Cause I rather be left alone...oh

Wanna Be

My pistol is loaded, and my tank is full.
My cup runneth over, I'm in Hollywood.
It's 2 in the morning, just another day, for what's your number, what's your name -- damn, all night long.

They On--
But I'm long gone, at home with the vibrate on...my phone.
'Cause I rather be left alone...

DOPE: "Zoobi Doobi" from "3 Idiots" (2009)

This song has been on my mind for weeks now, and I figured it was a sure sign to share it as a DOPE post. With the lyrics courtesy of KrazyLyrics, I hope you all will enjoy Zoobi Doobi! And don't blame me if you start humming it all day either! LOL

Gungunaati hain yeh hawaayein
The wind is humming
Gungunaata hai gagan
So is the sky
Ga raha hai yeh saara aalam
The whole atmosphere is humming

Zoobi doo
Param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Shaakhon pe pattey ga rahe hain
The leaves are singing on the branches
Phoolon pe bhanvre ga rahe
The butterflies are singing on the flowers

Deewani kiranein ga rahi hain
Crazy beams are singing
Yeh panchhi ga rahe
So are the birds

Bagiya mein do phoolon ki
Ho rahi hai guftagu
Two flowers are conversing in the garden
Jaisa filmon mein hota hai
Ho raha hai hu-ba-hu
It's a complete replica of what happens in the movies

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Rim jhim rim jhim rim jhim
San san san san hawaa
The wind is blowing
Tip tip tip tip boondein
The rain drops are pouring
Gurraati bijliyaan
Lightning is growling

Bheegi bheegi saree mein
Yeh thumke lagaati tu
You are dancing in wet clothes
Jaise filmon mein hota hai
Ho raha hai hu-ba-hu
It's a complete replica of what happens in the movies

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Ambar ka chaand zameen par
Itra ke ga raha
The moon of the sky is singing
Ek tim tim toota tara
Ithla ke ga raha
On the earth with pride
A shooting star is also singing

Hai raat akeli tanha
The night is lonely
Mujhe chhoo le aake tu
Come and touch me
Jaise filmon mein hota hai
Ho raha hai hu-ba-hu
It's a complete replica of what happens in the movies

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi pum paara
Zoobi doobi param pum

Zoobi doobi Zoobi doobi
Naache kyun paagal stupid mann
Why is the mad and stupid heart dancing?

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays... Viva La Diva Plain Wellies

Confession time: I haven't owned a proper pair of rain boots since childhood. Crazy, right?!? With spring rapidly approaching, which means New York City will be rained on heavily, I thought that now would be the perfect time to invest in a pair. The Viva La Diva Plain Wellies ($41.00, Simply Be) come in all the colors shown above, have an inner sock to keep our tootsies warm and dry and are cute as a button!!! Can you guess which color I'm ALL about?!?
That should not be a huge shocker to any of you, but I do believe I will get also investing in the black pair... for when I'm feeling a bit more demure!

What do you think of the Viva La Diva Wellies? What color would YOU rock?!?

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" One cannot manage too many affairs: like pumpkins in the water, one pops up while you try to hold down the other."
~ Chinese Proverb

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough."
~ Rabindranath Tagore

“ The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.”
~ Albert Einstein

I admit it. I suck at multitasking. Well, that's not 100% true...

At work, I'm a beast!! I can answer and email, talk to a customer on the telephone and send an instant message to co-workers at the same time. But when it comes to balancing work with everything else in my life... it's a challenge that I'm trying to learn from and ultimately master.

I know that the time to do everything I want and need to do is available if I seek it out. The greatest challenge thus far is to prioritize and get each thing done in that small window of time allotted to me. So the best way I've found to do this is to fake it like I have everything together and that juggling all that life is throwing at me is effortless. Trust me, it ain't! LOL

Today's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon has become a sort of anthem of mine, that I use to trick my mind and body into believing that I have more time to get everything accomplished than I really do. If you're like me, and you feel sometimes that there needs to be more hours of the day, then I hope that Little Jackie's "Move to the Beat" will motivate you to find the time to get it done and have a little fun in the process!

You move to the beat
Move to the beat
You move to the beat

Can you have it all?
Will you trip and fall,
While you do everything?

What's behind the scene
Hope nobody sees you
Stumble while you walk across that balance beam.

I know it's hard
To try to make it look easy
Try to stay in charge
And please everybody

You gotta move with the traffic
And go with the flow
Hop on one foot while you touch your nose
Trouble taking things with your other hand?
Ahh suck it up and be a man

Can you do it all?
Baby if you're asking
You're looking at the queen of multi-tasking
You move to the beat
Move to the beat
Tap into the insanity, yeah

You move to the beat
You can feel the heat
You embrace the multiplicity

I know it's hard
To try to make it look easy
Try to stay in charge
And please everybody

You gotta move with the traffic
And go with the flow
Hop on one foot while you touch your nose
Trouble taking things with your other hand?
Ahh suck it up and be a man

Can you do it all?
Baby if you're asking
You're looking at the queen of multi-tasking
You move to the beat
Move to the beat
Tap into the insanity, yeah

You move to the beat
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Move to the beat
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la

You gotta move with the traffic
And go with the flow
Hop on one foot while you touch your nose
Trouble taking things with your other hand?
Ahh suck it up and be a man

Can you do it all
Baby if you're asking
You're looking at the queen of multi-tasking
You move to the beat
Move to the beat
Tap into the insanity, yeah

You move to the beat
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Move to the beat
You move to the beat

Sha la la la
Move to the beat
You move to the beat

Sha la la la
Move to the beat

Miss Moon's Musings About: Rock the Red Pump Day 2013

" It is bad enough that people are dying of AIDS, but no one should die of ignorance."
~ Elizabeth Taylor

In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD), and Rock the Red Pump Day, I wanted to share a very special Sunday post. Why? It's very simple:

In the United States -

*Women account for one in four new HIV diagnoses and deaths caused by AIDS.
*The proportion of AIDS diagnoses reported among women has more than tripled since 1985.
*The vast majority of women diagnosed with HIV contracted the virus through heterosexual sex.
*African Americans constituted 64 percent of women diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2009.
*African Americans and Hispanics represent 26 percent of all women in the U.S. but they account for 82 percent of AIDS cases among women.
*African-American women have an HIV prevalence rate nearly 15 times that of white women.

 Around the Globe -

*Worldwide, women constitute more than half of all people living with HIV/AIDS.
*For women in their reproductive years (15–49), HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death.
*Women are at least twice as likely to acquire HIV from men during sexual intercourse than vice versa.
*A study in South Africa recently suggested that nearly one in seven cases of young women acquiring HIV could have been prevented if the women had not been subjected to intimate partner violence.
*In 2011, 57 percent of pregnant women living with HIV in low- and middle-income countries received effective drug regimens to prevent new HIV infections among children.
*In sub-Saharan Africa, women constitute 58 percent of all people living with HIV/AIDS. Among young people aged 15-24, the HIV prevalence rate for young women is twice that of young men.
 (Statistics courtesy of AMFAR.org)

So what can we do? We can educate our friends, our sisters, our daughters on prevention. We can show love, compassion and support to the women living with HIV and AIDS. And we can contribute to the following charities that helps those living with AIDS across the world:

The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS
The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation
Women Alive
International AIDS Women Caucus
United Nations AIDS Organization

Hooray!! This week's Wanna Wanna Wednesday item is extra special because it's presently en route to me as you read these words! In fact, the few times I've shared an item on my "Wanna Wanna" wish list that was on the way, they've shown up the very day the post is published. So fingers crossed for this one.

I saw this tee ($27.13, Asos) and knew instantly that I had to have it. I canno wait to rock this tee with a pair of slacks, skinny jeans, or even with a pencil skirt and leopard print ballet flats! How cute would THAT be?

How would you rock this tee? I of course would love to hear your tips and suggestions!!!!

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" One of the virtues of being very young is that you don't let the facts get in the way of your imagination."
~ Sam Levenson

" The reluctance to put away childish things may be a requirement of genius."
~ Rebecca Pepper Sinkler

" Seriousness is a disease."
~ Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh

One of the things that I am most proud of is that people I meet find it very hard to believe that I am 35. Yep. I am 35 years old and 40 is rapidly approaching.

People's surprise at learning my age is not a source of pride for me because of some vain notion that I look younger than 35. I am 35, so this is clearly what a 35 year old looks like for me. I am proud of this fact because on most days, I feel much younger than I am. I am young at heart, and I guess it reflects in the way I look somehow.

But there are days when I feel OLD. I feel older than 35, in fact. Days where getting up out of bed and being a grown up is a big ole drag! But I do it, because I AM a grown up, and part of being one means that there are responsibilities that must be attended to. So I do my grown up, responsible thing, and then I dedicate one weekend day to just having a fun: watching cartoons, eating junk food, dancing around my room with a brush in my hand as a makeshift microphone... anything I can do to reclaim some of that childish spirit.

So for today's Music Therapy with Miss Moon song choice, I wanted to pick a song that was fun, upbeat and very youthful. One that would bring into mind of being young, without a care in a world, and allow all of us grown ups to take a piece of that exuberant spirit with us through the work week. So I hope you all will enjoy "Perfect Day" by Hoku, and that it will remind you to take time out of your busy schedules, responsibilities, and adulthood to have a perfect day for yourself. You deserve it!

Sun's up, a little after twelve, make breakfast for myself
Leave the work for someone else
People say, they say that it's just a phase
They tell me to act my age, well I am

On this perfect day, nothing's standing in my way
On this perfect day when nothing can go wrong
It's the perfect day, tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am on this perfect day

Sun's down, a little after ten I pick up all my friends
In my Mercedes Benz, wake up don't tell me it's just a dream
'Cause when I've had enough you'll hear me say
Now don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day, nothing's standing in my way
On this perfect day when nothing can go wrong
It's the perfect day, tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am on this perfect day

I'm in the race but I've already won
And getting there can be half the fun
So don't stop me till I'm good and done
Don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day, it's the perfect day
It's the perfect day, nothing's gonna bring me down
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day, nothing's standing in my way
On this perfect day, nothing can go wrong

I'm in the race but I've already won
And getting there can be half the fun
So don't stop me till I'm good and done
Don't you try to rain on my perfect day
On this perfect day, on this perfect day

A Little [STEVIE WONDER] for a Saturday Night

Happy Saturday, all! It's the first Saturday in March and for tonight's pick for the ABCs of Good Music, I've selected a beautiful, soul-stirring song by the one and only Stevie Wonder. I hope you all will sigh and swoon along with me to "If It's Magic".
