Miss Moon's Musings is officially on VACAY.....

.....for the week, that is!!

Between overtime at the new job (I still get giddy at the fact that I have a job!) and getting over a cold (Not too giddy about that!), I am in desperate need of a break from blogging. So I will be using this week to recharge, revamp, and will be back at it to share a tasty new song this upcoming Saturday night!

A Little [ESTHERO] for a Saturday Night

It's the very last week in November, and it's Saturday Night, so of course I am sharing with you an artist I think you just might dig as much as I do. I've featured Esthero once before on a Saturday Night, but I'm so very excited about her new release "Everything is Expensive", I wanted to share a really cool video from the album that I hope you'll enjoy as much as I do. Here's "Never Gonna Let You Go"...

Now if you don't want to let the sultry sounds of Esthero go (Gosh, I'm corny! lol), be sure to show your support and visit her at http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/esthero/.

DOPE: "Dola Re Dola" from "Devdas" (2002)

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Once a month, like clockwork.. I take a few hours out of a day (usually on a weekend) to watch "Devdas". And I've chosen today to watch, as it's my first day off since starting the new job!!

It's a film that really transports you with it's beauty. And Devdas is also a unique film for me, because it's the one movie I love starring Shah Rukh Khan, where I don't like Shah Rukh in it!! Most of the time, I wanted to smack Devdas Cher-style! LOL

To me, Devdas is all about the phenomenal women in it: Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, and Kirron Kher. These ladies make the film for me, and today's dope song is a reflection of Ash and Madhuri at their finest. With the lyrics and English translations from BollyWHAT, I hope you all will enjoy "Dola Re Dola".

Dolaa re... he Dolaa re
Swing, swing, sway!
haa'e Dolaa dil Dolaa man Dolaa re Dolaa
Oh, my heart sways; my spirit swings!

lag jaane do najariya gir jaane do bijuriya
Let the evil eye strike; let lightning fall!
bijuriya bijuriya gir jaane do aaj bijuriya
Lightning, lightning, let the lightning fall!
lag jaane do najariya gir jaane do bijuriya
Let the evil eye strike; let lightning fall!
baa.ndhke mai.n ghu.nghruu
Having strapped on ankle bells....
pahanke mai.n paayal
Having donned anklets...
baa.ndhke mai.n ghu.nghruu
Having strapped on ankle bells....
pahanke mai.n paayal
Having donned anklets...
jhuumke naachuu.ngi ghuumke naachuu.ngii
I'll dance, swinging, spinning!

Dolaa re... he Dolaa re
Swing, swing, sway!
haa'e Dolaa dil Dolaa man Dolaa re Dolaa
Oh, my heart sways; my spirit swings!

dekho jii dekho dekho kaisii yeh jha.nkhaar hai
Look, sir, behold this jingling (of anklets)!
inkii aa.nkho.n me.n dekho piya jii ka pyaar hai
Look into her eyes, behold her love for her beloved.
inkii aavaaz bhii ha'e kaisii thandaar hai
Even her softened voice resonates with conviction!
piya kii yaado.n me.n yeh jiya beqaraar hai
In memories of her beloved, life is restless with longing.
maathe kii bi.ndiya me.n voh hai
He's in the bindi on my forehead.

He's in the sleepiness of my lashes.
tere to tan man me.n hai
He's in your body and mind.

He's even in your heartbeats.
chhuRii ke chhan chhan me.n voh hai
He's in the jingle of bracelets,
ka.ngan ke khan khan me.n voh hai
He's in the clash of bangles.
chhuRii ke chhan chhan me.n voh hai
He's in the jingle of bracelets,
ka.ngan ke khan khan me.n voh hai
He's in the clash of bangles.
baa.ndhke mai.n ghu.nghruu
Having strapped on ankle bells....
pahanke mai.n paayal
Having donned anklets...
jhuumke naachuu.ngi ghuumke naachuu.ngii
I'll dance, swinging, spinning!

Dolaa re... he Dolaa re
Swing, swing, sway!
haa'e Dolaa dil Dolaa man Dolaa re Dolaa
Oh, my heart sways; my spirit swings!

tum ne mujhko duniya ne dii
You gave me the whole world.
mujhko apnii haa.n khushiyaa.n de dii
You gave me, yes, so much happiness.
tumse kabhii na hona duur
May he never be far from you;
haa.n maa.ng me.n bhar lena si.nduur
yes, marry him!
unkii baaho.n ka tum ho phuul
You are the flower of his embrace;
mai.n huu.n qadmo.n kii bas dhuul
I'm only the dust under his feet.
baa.ndhke mai.n ghu.nghruu
Having strapped on ankle bells....
pahanke mai.n paayal
Having donned anklets...
baa.ndhke mai.n ghu.nghruu
Having strapped on ankle bells....
pahanke mai.n paayal
Having donned anklets...
jhuumke naachuu.ngi ghuumke naachuu.ngii
I'll dance, swinging, spinning!

Dolaa re... he Dolaa re
Swing, swing, sway!
haa'e Dolaa dil Dolaa man Dolaa re Dolaa
Oh, my heart sways; my spirit swings!

And yes, I do this dance with them.. EVERY... SINGLE.. TIME!

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays.. Simply Be's Scarf Print Blouse

Happy Hump Day, Everybody!! This week's Wanna Wanna Wednesday item is a bit unique, because upon first view, I honestly wasn't all that enthusiastic about it.

I must say though that the Scarf Print Blouse ($33.00, Simply Be) wore me down with it's 60's Boho Beauty! And I could totally see myself rocking this top with a cute pair of jeans and boots (Lane Bryant Color blocked Boots, anyone?) to work... and could definitely see myself wearing it as pictured below..

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

“ Your task is not to seek for Love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
~ Rumi

“ We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
~ Maya Angelou

I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line."
~ Lucille Ball

I've been getting a lot of attention for the fellas lately. While the appreciation is quite nice, it's kind of unwanted at this time. I am happily single. Or to phrase it better and more accurately, I'm dating someone very special... myself.

Last week I got into a conversation with an older woman on the subway. She asked me if I was married or dating someone very special and when I said I wasn't, she was very surprised. "A pretty young thing like you?", she wondered out loud. She couldn't get the fact that while there is no shortage of offers, I am really enjoying my own company.

I'm noticing that the more happy I am with myself, the more I'm attractive to men who happen to encounter me. So I will keep doing what I'm doing. I am going to enjoy this feeling of immense love and peace with myself and the world around me. I am going to continue blossoming and blooming and growing. Not for your benefit, gentlemen. For mine. Raincheck, though! LOL

To celebrate this feeling, here's Diana Ross' "I'm coming out", which I think is the perfect song to illustrate how awesome it is to love yourself and not be afraid to show it!

I'm coming out
I'm coming
I'm coming out

[Chorus]
I'm coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show
I'm coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show

There's a new me coming out
And I just had to live
And I want to give
I'm completely positive
I think this time around
I am gonna do it
Like you never do it
Like you never knew it
Oh, I'll make it through

The time has come for me
To break out of the shell
I have to shout
That I'm coming out

[Chorus: x2]

I've got to show the world
All that I want to be
And all my billities
There's so much more to me
Somehow, I have to make them
Just understand
I got it well in hand
And, oh, how I've planned
I'm spreadin' love
There's no need to fear
And I just feel so glad
Every time I hear

[Chorus]

A Little [DREAM KOALA] for a Saturday Night

Happy Saturday Night, All!! I'm back with another artist I think you might dig. I have to admit, it was the name that first reeled me in. I mean.. Dream Koala? Intrigued was an understatement. So I listened to tonight's song. And I listened to it again. And again. And again. Hours had passed before I realized I have listened to this song all night!

This song will seriously put you in a zone. It's great to have playing while meditating, writing, blogging, or just day dreaming... I've done all four to this song, so I'm totally speaking from experience here!! LOL

Anyway, I hope you all will fall in love with "Treehouse" as much as I did, and that it puts you in a peaceful meditative state this Saturday night.

If you dug Treehouse, you can download it for free (courtesy of ThisisRealMusic.com). But be sure to show your love by visiting Dream Koala directly at http://dreamkoala.tumblr.com/.

DOPE: " I Hate You (Like I Love You)" from "Delhi Belly" (2011)

I'm back with another Hindi Film that I think is just... DOPE. This film is one that I recently watched this past weekend. When the movie ended, I pressed play on my DVD and watched it again... it's THAT good! But you don't have to take my word for it... check out my Black Girl Digs Bollywood blog to see my immediate reaction to watching the movie! LOL

I'm not going to say that the video I'm sharing today is the best part of the entire picture.... but I will say, it's definitely in the top ten!! With lyrics and translations courtesy of Krazy Lyrics... here's the fabulous and over the top, "I Hate You (Like I Love You)".

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Iss dard ne kar diya deewana
This pain has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy

Tere jaisa zaalim milta hai naseeb se
Cruel like you are met by fate
Milta hai naseeb se
met by fate
Dil hai tera khanjar
Heart is your knife,
Ghayal karde kareeb se
Injure it from near
Ghayal karde kareeb se
Injure it from near

But you're in my blood I just can't quit
Infection addiction
You give me such a kick

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Iss dard ne kar diya deewana
This pain has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy

Shake that biscuit baby,
Shake it for me!
Yeah!
Haaye current maarti hai!
She gives shock!

Aankhon mein aankhein daale
Stare in my eyes
Zara zeher pilaa de
And give me poison
Zara zeher pilaa de
And give me poison
Maut ke nashe ki baat hi kuchh aur hai
The intoxication of death is altogether different
Baat hi kuchh aur hai
Is altogether different

But you're in my blood I just can't quit
Infection addiction
You give me such a kick

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Iss dard ne kar diya deewana
This pain has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy

Jo chauka udhte hue jaaye
Usse chhakka kehte hain
A boundary that flies is called a sixer

Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody
Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody

Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody
Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody

Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody
Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody

Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody

Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Iss dard ne kar diya deewana
This pain has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy

Saiyyan tere pyaar mein
Beloved in your love,
Lutt gaye hum bazaar mein
I got squandered in front of everybody

Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy
Iss dard ne kar diya deewana
This pain has made me crazy
Tere pyaar ne kar diya deewana
Your love has made me crazy

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

I hate you like I love you
I hate you like I love you
Love you love you

Wanna Wanna Wednesday... Forever 21's Faded Chambray Shirt

Fasten your seat belts, y'all... I'm about to clue you in to how my mind works! LOL

So last week, I was super shocked and delighted to see that the Jewelry Set I purchased from I.K. Jewelry arrived a week earlier than anticipated and on my birthday to boot!! I of course tried the pieces on, ooh'd and ahh'd, and knew with some level of certainly that I would be rocking the hell out of those pieces very soon. Which lead me to wonder, with WHAT?!? I could wear them with a simple black sweater, but I'm 35 now and eager to shake up my style.

Then in my mind, I flashed to the image of Teresa Jenee from my post a few weeks ago... and then, I remembered seeing today's Wanna Wanna Wednesday item.. and voilà!! An idea was formed!! LOL

So needless to say this Faded Chambray Shirt ($22.80, Forever 21) is DEFINITELY on my list of items to snatch up, and I am looking forward to wearing them with my jewelry set. The only problem is.. what to wear on the bottom? If you have any ideas, be sure to leave a comment with links and/or suggestions!!

:::drools::: Nicole Richie-style for Plus Size Fashionistas

So yeah, I know... I haven't done a Plus Size Fashionistas post in a while. The truth is, I haven't been all that inspired by celebrity fashion as of late. But I assure you all, that the moment I see something that knocks my socks off, I will be sure to attempt to recreate the look for a post. Which leads me to...

How cute and simple is this outfit.. I love the different colors, the bag and the sunnies. I decided to revamp this look a bit to make it more weather-friendly. Here's what I've come up with:

Sweater: Striped Boucle Sweater ($22.80, Forever 21)
Jeans: Lola Slim Leg Jeans ($65.00, Simply Be)
Boots: Annie Tall Boots in Cognac ($59.99, One Stop Plus)
Bag: Cute Snakeskin Clutch ($35.00, Lulu's)
Sunglasses: Ricky Business Sunglasses ($12.00, Urban Outfitter)

I think this outfit is a great burst of color for the winter. Where would you rock this look?

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person.”
~ Rita Mero

" I never regret anything. Because every little detail of your life is what made you into who you are in the end. "
~ Drew Barrymore"

" Forget regret, or life is yours to miss."
~ Jonathan Larson

What is it about birthdays that makes one suddenly introspective? I guess it's because we're entering a new phase in our lives with each birthday, and it's only natural to reflect on where you've gone just as much as where you're going.

Such is the case with me this past weekend. I spent a lot of time thinking about my past and about the pivotal moments that have shaped me.. for the good and bad. I thought a lot about the mistakes I've made, and what's astonishing to me is that for most of them choices I've made... I'd make them again. There are a few exceptions to that, but for the most part... Yeah, I'd take the same steps. Why? Because they've made me who I am... and I happen to think I'm pretty damn alright.

When thinking about writing about this for Music Therapy with Miss Moon, Corinne Bailey Rae was the first person I thought of. So here's "I'd Do It All Again".

Ooh, you’re searching for something I know,
won’t make you happy
Ooh, you’re thirsting for something I know,
won’t make you happy
Ooh, you did it all again, you broke another skein
It’s hard to believe this time, hard to believe
That my heart, my heart’s an open door
You got all you came for, baby
So weary, someone to love is bigger than your pride’s worth
Is bigger than the pain you got for it hurts
And out runs all of the sadness
It’s terrifying, life, through the darkness

And I’d do it all again, I’d do it all again
I’d do it all again, I’d do it all again
You try sometimes but it won’t stop
You got my heart and my head’s lost, ooh yeah
I’ve been burning down these candles for love, for love
So weary, someone to love is bigger than your pride
Ooh, someone to love, mm, someone to love
Someone to love
Ooh, you’re searching for something I know,
won’t make you happy
Ooh

DOPE: "Dhak Dhak Karne Laga" from "Beta" (1992)

Hey Everybody!! I'm here to share another Hindi film scene I believe is very very DOPE!! And because I've stan hard for both Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, I decided to share a scene that has them both in it!!! It's two times the DOPE!! Awww yeah!!!

I hope you all will enjoy because this song is sizzling hot. Hindi lyrics are courtesy of LyricsMasti.com, and the English translations are courtesy of my DVD, remote control and nifty typing skills!!

Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared
Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared
Saiya Baiya Chhodna, Kachchi Kaliya Tod Na
Beloved, please leave my hands
Saiya Baiya Chhodna, Kachchi Kaliya Tod Na
Beloved, please leave my hands

Dil Se Dil Mil Gaya, Mujhase Kaisi Ye Haya
Our hearts have met, then why are you still shy?
Dil Se Dil Mil Gaya, Mujhase Kaisi Ye Haya
Our hearts have met, then why are you still shy?
Tu Hai Meri Dilaruba, Kya Lagti Hai, Va Re Va
You are my lover, how beautiful you look
Tu Hai Meri Dilaruba, Kya Lagti Hai, Va Re Va
You are my lover, how beautiful you look
Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared

Apana Kaha Jab Piya Tune Mujhe, Main Meethe Meethe Sapane Sajane Lagi
When you called me mine, I started having sweet dreams
Dekha Meri Raani Jab Maine Tujhe, Meri Soi Soi Dhadkan Gaane Lagi
From the time I saw you, my mind is awakened, my queen
Jaadu Tera Chhane Laga, Meri Nas Nas Mein Samaane Laga
Your magic has spread into my whole body
Kkud Ko Main Bhulane Laga, Tujhe Saanson Mein Basane Laga
I started forgetting myself, and hold you in my breath now
Rishta, Ab Ye Rishta, Saathi Tutega Na Tode Kabhi
What is this relation which has maddened both of us?
Dil Se Dil Mil Gaya Mujhase Kaisi Ye Haya
Our hearts have met, then why are you still shy?
Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared

Uljhi Hai Kali Kali Lat Teri, Zara In Zulfon Ko Suljhane To De
Your black hair is entangled, allow me to set it right
Itani Bhi Kya Hai Jaladi Tujhe, Ghadi Apane Milan Ki Tu Ane To De
What is your union, let the time for our union come
Aise Naa Bahane Bana, Meri Rani, Ab To Bahon Mein Aa
Don't make reasons and come into my arms my queen
Aise Naa Nigahen Mila, Koi Dekhega To Sochega Kya
Don't meet my eyes like that, what will the others think?
Masti Chhai Hai Masti, Ake Lag Jaa Gale Se Abhi
There is happiness all around, come and hug me.

Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared
Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared
Saiya Baiya Chhodna, Kachchi Kaliya Tod Na
Beloved, please leave my hands
Saiya Baiya Chhodna, Kachchi Kaliya Tod Na
Beloved, please leave my hands

Dil Se Dil Mil Gaya, Mujhase Kaisi Ye Haya
Our hearts have met, then why are you still shy?
Dil Se Dil Mil Gaya, Mujhase Kaisi Ye Haya
Our hearts have met, then why are you still shy?
Tu Hai Meri Dilaruba, Kya Lagti Hai, Va Re Va
You are my lover, how beautiful you look
Tu Hai Meri Dilaruba, Kya Lagti Hai, Va Re Va
You are my lover, how beautiful you look
Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Ho Mora Jiyara Darne Laga
My heart started beating, and started getting scared

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays... Lane Bryant's Colorblock Riding Boots

i am a huge fan of riding boots for the fall and winter... and with that in mind... I need these boots ($79.95, Lane Bryant) in my life, like, YESTERDAY!! It's wonderful to imagine the type of outfits I'd rock with these boots. I usually buy a brown pair and a black pair of boots, but with these babies, I get two for one! LOL

Miss Moon Gets Healthy: October Stats

I'm back with last month's walking stats and my Miss Moon Gets Healthy progress. I did really really well this past month, I think. The only hindrance was the appearance of Super Storm Sandy, because as a result I didn't walk for an entire week during the clean up process.

I actually had the golden opportunity to go shopping to get a few new items for work, and the funniest thing was that I was so hesitant to get a smaller size. It was like I was paralyzed with fear that if I bought these smaller sized clothes, go home and they don't fit... I will feel like a failure. I had to pep talk myself with the obvious statement that if they don't fit, I can return them for a larger size. And the most fabulous thing was that I didn't have to return them. The smaller sized clothes fit me just fine. And it was a bizarre concept to me... I am actually two sizes smaller than I had been for YEARS!!!

I am so very close to my year end goal, and now that I'm working, I understand the importance of keeping the walking going. I don't know if I can realistically walk 20 miles a week, so for November I will shorten the goal to 10 miles a week. Once I get used to the process, I will up the ante. I also would very much like to join a gym by year's end, because once the weather gets colder here in NYC, I'm not going to want to be walking around for an hour and a half a day! LOL

On a side note, my tee shirt says, "My Vote Rocks"... because it TOTALLY does!! And so does yours! So be sure to get out there and vote today!!!!

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.
~ Joseph Campbell

" If I'm enjoying myself, I find my opportunities for more fun become greater."
~ Martha Plimpton

" Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them."
~ William Arthur Ward

" Every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending."
~ Author Unknown

I'm always excited at beginnings. The beginning of a new week, a new month, and all of the unknown opportunities for lessons and blessings before me. Sure there is a bit of fear about what to come (I am human, after all!), but the one thing I've learned as I'm rapidly approaching 35 is that regret is WAY more damaging to the spirit.

When I look back on my past, I don't kick myself over the wrong choices I've made. Those have ultimately shaped who I am, and I've learned some powerful life lessons in the process, which is a blessing in disguise. I always feel really very sucky when I reflect on the times I could have made a choice, instead of staying paralyzed in fear and indecision. I wasted a lot of my life that way. No more, though!

This week, I am choosing to approach new opportunities with open arms and expect only the best to come. Starting with today, my official first day at my new job! And this week's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon is a wonderful way to keep the feeling going. Of course... I'm sharing it with you all in the hopes that it will inspire you to embrace opportunity today, and the freedom that comes a long with it, too!

For an extra boost on opportunities and embracing the unknown, be sure to check out the most recent post by the fabulous Simone Craig!! She's always serving up the tastiest food for thought! :)

Let me tell you what love is
It's when you meet each other halfway
I'm en route

Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself

Look in your own mirror and know who you are
Live your life accordingly the truth is on your arm
And it's good, baby
You've done good, baby

Be just who you are make no apologies
And when it's said and done who's really sorry
You're okay, baby
It's okay, baby

Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself

Dare to be a better you each chance you get
We're all human and fall short and nothing's over yet
It's up to you, baby
Give 'em you, baby

Life's too short to waste your time do what you love
Don't be ashamed it's better have peace by a dove
Give 'em you, baby
Give 'em room, baby

Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself

Like the phoenix from the ashes
Or a sunrise off in the distance
I'll try again, I'll try again
I'll try again, we'll try again

Like the phoenix from the ashes
Or a sunrise off in the distance
I'll try again, I'll try again
I'll try again, we'll try again

Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself
Emancipate yourself

A Little [TERESA JENEE] for a Saturday Night

Happy Saturday, Everybody!! After sharing songs from my favorite male and female artists over the past few months, I thought for November, I would do something a little different. Every Saturday this month I will be sharing a video from an artist you may not have heard of, but you might dig all the same.

I am starting it off with a song and video from an artist I only recently discovered. I wish I could say I've known all about her for ages and ages, because her music is lovely and in my very humble opinion... this song is PERFECT for a peaceful Saturday night. I hope you all will sit back, relax and enjoy "Ode to October" by Teresa Jenee... on the first weekend in November! LOL

If you liked the song, be sure to show your support and download her album "Electric Yellow" (for free!) by visiting http://teresajenee.bandcamp.com/.... you won't regret it!!!

DOPE: "Ramta Jogi" from "Taal" (1999)

I have the sneaking suspicion I've written about this song before, but I couldn't seem to find the previous post, so let's just pretend I didn't!! LOL

Taal is a Hindi film that remains in my top five favorite list, and this song is one of the reasons for this. The very dapper Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai perform this sultry song fabulously. The entire soundtrack to this film is pretty amazing. This in fact was the very first Hindi film soundtrack I purchased!!

I hope you all will enjoy "Ramta Jogi" (Lyrics with english translations courtesy of BollyWHAT.com)

na jaane dil vich kii aaya
Who knows what possessed my heart?
ek prem piyaala pii aaya
I drank down a cup of love
mai.n jii aaya mai.n jii aaya
and began to live fully
ek prem piyaala pii aaya
I drank down a cup of love

ramta jogii ramta jogii...
Wandering yogi...

mai.n prem da pyaala pii aaya...
I drank down a cup of love...
mai.n prem da pyaala pii aaya...
I drank down a cup of love...
ek pal me.n sadiyaa.n jii aaya
in one moment, I lived centuries!

ramta jogii ramta jogii
Wandering yogi

mai.n prem da pyaala pii aaya
I drank down a cup of love;
ek pal me.n sadiyaa.n jii aaya
in one moment, I lived centuries!
saarii madhushaala pii aaya
I drank the entire bar's worth
ek pal me.n sadiyaa.n jii aaya
in one moment, I lived centuries!

mai.n pii aaya...
I drank it up...
mai.n jii aaya
I started to really live...

ramta jogii ramta jogii
Wandering yogi

tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi
tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi
tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi

tuu prem da pyaala pii aaya
come before us having drunk down a draught of love.
ae tere dil vich kii aaya
Oh, your heart was possessed;
tuu prem da pyaala pii aaya
you come before us having drunk down a draught of love.
ae tere dil vich kii aaya
Your heart was overwhelmed.

saarii madhushaala pii aaya
I drank the entire bar's worth
ek pal me.n sadiyaa.n jii aaya
in one moment, I lived centuries!
mai.n pii aaya...
I drank it up...
mai.n jii aaya
I started to really live...

tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi,
ramta jogii ramta jogii
wandering yogi

yeh jog liya kis kaaraN
For what reason did you become a yogi?
yeh rog liya kis kaaraN
Why did you contract this illness?
yeh jog liya kis kaaraN
For what reason did you become a yogi?
yeh rog liya kis kaaraN
Why did you contract this illness?

o ek jogan baiTHii basti me.n
O, a wisewoman was hanging around the neighborhood,
ek mauj uTHii to mastii me.n
and a wave of ecstasy swept over me.
o ek jogan baiTHii basti me.n
O, a wisewoman was hanging around the neighborhood,
ek mauj uTHii to mastii me.n
and a wave of ecstasy swept over me.
dil bhii aaya mai.n pii aaya
My heart was overwhelmed, and I drank!

mai.n prem pyaala pii aaya
I drank down a cup of love;

I drank, and I began to live.
mai.n prem pyaala pii aaya
I drank down a cup of love;
mai.n jii aaya
I started to really live..

tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi.

man me.n lagan yeh jagii jag chhuuTa
When this desire arose in my mind, I renounced the world.
jag chhuuTa jiya bairaagii
I renounced the world for the life of an ascetic.
yeh baat vahaa.n tak na pahu.nchii
Nothing affects me;
yeh choT jiya tak na lagii
no wound can strike my heart;
yeh dard zabaan tak na aaya
I don't give voice to pain.
yeh tere dil vich kii aaya
This heart of yours was overwhelmed.

saarii madhushaala pii aaya
I drank the entire bar's worth
ek pal me.n sadiyaa.n jii aaya
in one moment, I lived centuries!
mai.n pii aaya...
I drank it up...
mai.n jii aaya
I started to really live...
ramta jogii ramta jogii
wandering yogi
tuu ramta jogii tuu ramta jogii
You are a wandering yogi
